Mini Beast Adventures
Mini Beast Adventures is a full-scope branding project created to help a mission-led outdoor educator step confidently from instructor into business ownership.
Rooted in nature and designed with inclusion at its core, the identity uses negative space to spark curiosity while remaining carefully tested for visual accessibility. From a seasonal colour system inspired by the outdoors to a bespoke digital pitch platform, every element was deliberately built to support growth, clarity, and long-term resilience.

From instructor to business owner
Mini Beast Adventures began as a freelance-led outdoor education offering. The challenge was supporting its transition into a clear, confident business, without losing the curiosity and warmth at the heart of the work.
The identity needed to operate on two levels: engaging children through imagination and discovery, while reassuring parents, schools, and guardians through clarity and professionalism.

Designing for curiosity, safety, and trust
The client’s background in working with children with additional needs shaped every decision. The brand needed to feel safe, approachable, and energetic. Capable of holding attention without becoming overwhelming.
This wasn’t about creating a novelty outdoor brand, but about building trust in a learning environment beyond traditional classrooms.

Finding meaning in negative space
The core mark was built from the negative space between a British Sycamore leaf and a Stag Beetle. The beetle emerging from the leaf reflects the idea of discovery, revealing the overlooked details of the natural world that Mini Beast Adventures centres its teaching around.
This approach avoided familiar outdoor clichés while creating a distinctive, meaningful form.

A brand designed to change with the seasons
Rather than a fixed palette, the brand uses a seasonal colour system inspired by the natural environment. This allows the identity to adapt throughout the year. From fresh spring greens to deeper autumnal tones, while remaining consistent and recognisable.
The result is a system designed for change without visual drift.

Inclusion as a design constraint, not an add-on
Because Mini Beast Adventures works closely with children with additional needs, accessibility was treated as a foundational requirement. The identity was tested extensively in black and white to ensure legibility and recognition under reduced contrast and for visually impaired users.
These constraints directly informed the final form of the mark, strengthening its clarity and durability.

Built for screens, prints, and muddy hands
The identity was designed to function across both digital and physical environments. A bespoke digital pitch platform supports partnership and contract bids. While physical assets, including stickers used as rewards, bring the brand into real-world settings.
Each touchpoint reinforces consistency, warmth, and longevity.

An identity designed to grow and endure
Mini Beast Adventures now has a clear, flexible identity that supports its evolution from individual instruction to a considered outdoor education business. Designed to grow, adapt, and endure.
